In the article by John Lott on Foxnews.com, http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/02/22/will-obama-push-us-over-edge/, he discusses whether Obama's claims during his election campaign remain true to his current actions in office.
While the author's opinions were obviously biased against the president, the article did bring up valid points on Obama's actions while he has entered his last four years as president when he does not need to worry about public opinion for a re-election anymore. For example, Obama did say he wanted higher taxes on the top tax bracket, however the amount he is pushing for doubles what he told the public in his election campaign. Along with that, the press constantly assured the public during the campaign that he was a supporter of the second amendment and the public had nothing to worry about, Yet the day after his re-election, Obama called for the UN Arms Trade
Treaty negotiations to be started again, and a few weeks later he
promised to put the full force of the federal government behind a push
for massive new gun control.
Personally, I do believe Obama does want what is best for the country, contrary to people saying he wants to destroy it. However, I do agree that he prefers to have his intentions somewhat hidden from the public and for things to go his way with no outside opinion.
